Top Rank Boxing Promoter Bob Arum announced today that the negotiations for the Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight is currently on going.
Arum told that the deal would be done after Mosley’s lawyers signed the final documents for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship fight. The fight is scheduled on May 7th next year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada.
The 39 year old Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs), a former champion in three divisions will be slugging it with the 32 year old congressman Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs), who ruled eight divisions and current holder of the WBO welterweight belt.
Arum told ESPN.com: “I believe it will be an exciting fight. Shane knows how to fight and how to deal with the speed. Manny is in for a hellacious fight. I really believe styles make fights.”
Pacman won his last 13 fights while claiming world titles in an astonishing eight weight classes, most recently taking the WBC light middleweight belt with his win over Mexico’s Antonio Margarito at the Cowboy’s Stadium in Texas.
On the other hand, Mosley’s last 2 fights were not as impressive as Pacquiao’s, he has won just two of his past five fights, getting walloped by Mayweather in a unanimous decision in May before fighting to a dull draw with Sergio Mora on Sept. 18.
Pacquiao will be back in Las Vagas after winning 2 bouts at the Cowboy’s Stadium in Arlington, Texas. “It’s great to do a promotion where I can sleep in my own bed,” Arum said.
